چکیده

Institute of Physics, A. Mickiewicz University Umultowska 85, 61-614 Poznań, Poland Recently a new universal relation between superfluid density ρs and σdcTc, where σdc is direct current conductivity and Tc — superconducting critical temperature, was found by Homes et al. (Nature 430, 539 (2004)). The theoretical derivation of the relation based on BCS theory is correct only qualitatively. In the present paper this relation is calculated theoretically, using Hartree-Fock approximation and second-order perturbation theory. It is found that although correct qualitatively, quantitatively the results are too small. Inclusion of the second neighbor hopping improves the results.

Quantum Monte Carlo Evidence for d-wave Pairing in the 2D Hubbard Model at a van Hove Singularity

We implement a Quantum Monte Carlo calculation for a repulsive Hubbard model with nearest and next-nearest neighbor hopping interactions on clusters up to 12 × 12. A parameter region where the Fermi level lies close to the van Hove singularity at the Saddle Points in the bulk band structure is investigated. A pairing tendency in the dx2−y2 symmetry channel, but no other channel, is found. Estim...

Ferromagnetism in the two dimensional t - t ′ Hubbard model at the Van Hove density

Ferromagnetism in the two dimensional t-t ′ Hubbard model at the Van Hove density Abstract Using an improved version of the projection quantum Monte Carlo technique, we study the square-lattice Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor hopping t and next-nearest-neighbor hopping t ′ , by simulation of lattices with up to 20×20 sites. For a given R = 2t ′ /t, we consider that filling which leads to a ...

Phase separation in the particle-hole asymmetric Hubbard model

The paramagnetic phase diagram of the Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor NNN hopping on the Bethe lattice is computed at half-filling and in the weakly doped regime using the self-energy functional approach for dynamical mean-field theory. NNN hopping breaks the particle-hole symmetry and leads to a strong asymmetry of the electron-doped and hole-doped regimes. Phase ...

1 5 D ec 1 99 8 Magnetic and Charge Correlations of the 2 - dimensional t − t ′ − U Hubbard model

Using a spin-rotation invariant six-slave boson representation, we study the square lattice Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor hopping t and next-nearest neighbor hopping t ′. We discuss the influence of t ′ on the charge and magnetic properties. In the hole-doped domain, we find that a negative t ′ strongly favors itinerant ferromag-netism over any incommensurate phase, especially in the stro...

Suppression of static stripe formation by next-neighbor hopping

We show from real-space Hartree-Fock calculations within the extended Hubbard model that next-nearest neighbor (t8) hopping processes act to suppress the formation of static charge stripes. This result is confirmed by investigating the evolution of charge-inhomogeneous corral and stripe phases with increasing t8 of both signs. We propose that large t8 values in YBCO prevent static stripe format...
